Ram Van Gaman Path In Chhattisgarh - An Overview

Chhattisgarh is identified as the maternal house of Lord Ram. Lord Ram spent a significant amount of time in the woods of this province during his exile. Ram is deep-rooted and has a profound influence on the folklore, folk tales, and common life of the people of Chhattisgarh. It is believed that Mata Sita and Lakshman spent 12 years in Chhattisgarh with Lord Ram in the ancient Dandakaranya.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board is planning to expand the global tourism sectors in and around the 75 destinations which are a part of Lord Ram’s journey. In the first phase, 9 places have been identified from Koriya to Sukma stretching to a length of 2260 kilometres that are going to be developed.

The development started with the unveiling of the 51-feet-tall statue of Lord Ram at the ancient Mata Kaushalya temple of Chandkhuri, 25 kilometres away from Raipur. Mata Kaushalya was the princess hailing from this region. The 51-feet-tall statue has been established on the temple premises in Chandkhuri. Along with the grand gate on the premises, beautification of the pond around the temple, construction of attractive pathways, and plantations have been done to give a fresh look to the place. The temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and in the middle of the pond there is an attractive statue of Goddess Lakshmi pressing the feet of Lord Vishnu on the Sheshnag bed, and the sculpture depicting ‘Samudra Manthan’ is the main centre of attraction for the devotees.

From Koriya district to Sukma, the Government will be restoring each site that speaks a million words about Lord Shri Ram and his quest. Sitamarhi Harchowka (Koriya), Ramgarh (Sarguja), Shivrinarayan (Janjgir-Champa), Turturiya (Balodabazar), Chandkhuri (Raipur), Rajim (Gariaband), Sihawa Saptarishi Ashram (Dhamtari), Jagdalpur (Bastar) and Ramaram (Sukma) are woven in the in Ram Van Gaman Path tourism circuit.

Through the Ram Van Gaman tourism circuit, the Government not only aims to promote rural but new avenues are being carved in the field of tourism in the state. Along with increasing employment opportunities in tourism, Ram Van Gaman Path will make the rural economy self-supporting and robust. This tourism circuit will be one of its kind in the country and will be marked in golden letters and expose Chhattisgarh to newer heights.
